The Ascent — a week, a month, a year
Your writing seen from four heights. The higher you stand, the more shape you can see.

The Ascent is your journal seen from four heights:
- Valley — a week. Close enough to remember the days.
- Hillside — a month.
- Ridge — a quarter. Far enough that a season starts to have edges.
- Summit — a year.
Move between them and the same life resolves differently, the way a landscape does as you climb.
What you’ll find at each height
Arcs — the things that ran through the period rather than happening once.
Tensions — the places where two things you wrote sat against each other. Not resolved for you, just noticed.
A refrain — a line you wrote, quoted exactly, that carried the period.
Where it comes from
Everything here is built from your own entries. The counting, the dating, the grouping — all done in code, from facts. The only thing the model does is choose which of your sentences to show you, and it quotes them verbatim.
It won’t tell you what your year meant. It shows you your year and lets you be the one who understands it.
It needs a little time
A week needs a few entries to be worth looking at; a year needs a year. If a height looks thin, it’s usually because there isn’t much there yet rather than because something is broken.
If you’ve imported an old journal, your history gets processed in the background after the import — so the higher altitudes may take a little while to fill in the first time. It carries on without you.
