An entry hasn't appeared on my other device

Almost always a sync that hasn't caught up. Your writing is safe on the device you wrote it on.

First: it isn’t lost. Entries are written to the device you typed them on before anything else happens. An entry that hasn’t reached your other devices is still whole where you wrote it.

Try these in order

  1. Check the device you actually wrote it on. If it’s there, this is a sync delay, not data loss.
  2. Check the sync indicator. If it says there’s pending work, it’s queued and waiting for a connection.
  3. Make sure the writing device has been online since. Entries written on a plane sync when the app is next open and connected — the app has to be open, not just the device.
  4. Open Dayspring on the writing device and leave it a moment. That’s what triggers the flush.
  5. Then check the other device.

Sitting on “pending”

Usually a flaky connection. Switch between wifi and mobile data, or reload.

If it’s persistent, don’t reinstall the app on the device holding the unsynced entry — that’s the one copy that’s definitely fine. Get in touch first.

An empty journal after signing in

Different problem entirely, and the most common one we see. You’ve probably signed in with Apple one time and Google another, which creates two accounts.

Your writing is in the other one. See entries missing after signing in.

Two copies of the same entry

Tell us. Send the dates and roughly what it said — we can merge them.

Belt and braces

If an entry really matters and it hasn’t synced yet, select it, copy it, and paste it somewhere. Then keep going. Do that before any reinstalling or signing out.
